STRUCTURAL STEEL SUPPLIER IN MALAYSIA

Falak Engineering Sdn Bhd supplies structural steel products for oil and gas, petrochemical, refinery, power generation, marine, infrastructure and industrial construction projects throughout Malaysia.

Our range includes H-beams, I-beams, universal beams, universal columns, steel channels, angle bars, flat bars, round bars, steel plates, hollow sections and industrial steel gratings.

Materials are available according to EN, ASTM, JIS and other project standards. Standard commercial lengths, cut lengths and project-specific dimensions may be sourced subject to availability.

STRUCTURAL STEEL FOR INDUSTRIAL PROJECTS

Structural steel is used to construct load-bearing frameworks, pipe racks, equipment supports, platforms, access structures and fabricated assemblies.

Product type, section size, material grade and dimensions should be selected by the project’s structural engineer according to the applicable design requirements.

STEEL BEAMS AND COLUMNS

H-Beams

H-beams have wide flanges and a central web, providing effective resistance to bending and compression. They are widely used for structural frames, columns, pipe racks, equipment supports and heavy fabrication.

Profiles may include H-beams, wide-flange beams, W sections, HEA and HEB sections.

I-Beams and Universal Beams

I-beams provide bending resistance while maintaining an efficient section weight. Common profiles include Universal Beams, IPE sections, IPN sections and JIS I-shaped sections.

They are commonly used for floor beams, roof structures, industrial frames and pipe-support systems.

Universal Columns

Universal columns are designed primarily for axial loading. They are used in building frames, process modules, industrial platforms and equipment-support structures.

Section names from different standards are not automatically interchangeable. Dimensions, weight per metre, flange thickness, web thickness and mechanical properties must be verified.

STEEL CHANNELS AND ANGLE BARS

Steel channels have C-shaped or U-shaped profiles and are used for secondary framing, equipment supports, stairways, platforms and skid fabrication.

Available profiles may include Parallel Flange Channels, UPN channels, UPE channels and JIS channels.

Angle bars are available in equal and unequal configurations. They are commonly used for bracing, frames, handrails, trusses and equipment supports.

Ordering information should state the profile, dimensions, thickness, length and material grade.

STRUCTURAL HOLLOW SECTIONS

Falak Engineering can supply:

  • Square Hollow Sections - SHS
  • Rectangular Hollow Sections - RHS
  • Circular Hollow Sections - CHS

SHS provides symmetrical geometry for columns, frames, skids and supports. RHS offers different bending properties along its major and minor axes. CHS provides consistent properties around its circular profile and is commonly used for bracing, columns, handrails and offshore structures.

Structural hollow sections may be manufactured according to EN 10210, EN 10219, ASTM A500 or JIS G3466.

Structural CHS should not be assumed to be identical to process pipe because their dimensional tolerances, grades and manufacturing standards may differ.

STRUCTURAL STEEL PLATES AND GRATINGS

Structural steel plates are used for base plates, connection plates, gussets, stiffeners, platforms, skids and general fabrication.

Available products may include structural plates, chequered plates and custom-cut plate components. Plate requirements should identify the width, length, thickness, material grade and surface condition.

Industrial steel gratings are used for platforms, walkways, stair treads, trenches and access areas. Available options include welded, press-locked, plain, serrated, galvanised and stainless steel gratings.

Grating specifications should include bearing-bar dimensions, spacing, panel size, load requirements, edge banding and coating.

STRUCTURAL STEEL GRADES

Common EN 10025 grades include:

  • S235JR, S275JR and S355JR
  • S275J0, S275J2, S355J0 and S355J2

The JR, J0 and J2 suffixes identify different impact-testing requirements and should not be omitted when toughness is specified.

Common ASTM specifications include:

  • ASTM A36 carbon structural steel
  • ASTM A572 Grade 50
  • ASTM A992 structural shapes
  • ASTM A500 structural tubing

Common JIS grades include JIS G3101 SS400 and JIS G3106 SM490.

Offshore applications may require specialised materials according to EN 10225 or API 2H, 2W and 2Y, including additional toughness, weldability and inspection requirements.

SURFACE PROTECTION AND PROCESSING

Structural steel may be supplied in mill finish, blast-cleaned, primed, painted or hot-dip galvanised condition.

Subject to product and supplier capability, processing may include:

  • Cut-to-length service
  • Plate profiling
  • Saw, flame or plasma cutting
  • Drilling and bevel preparation
  • Shot blasting and priming
  • Hot-dip galvanising
  • Identification marking

Approved drawings and dimensional tolerances should be provided for processed components.

QUALITY DOCUMENTATION

Available documentation may include:

  • EN 10204 Type 3.1 or 3.2 certification
  • Chemical and mechanical test results
  • Impact-test reports
  • Ultrasonic testing reports
  • Dimensional inspection reports
  • Coating or galvanising certificates
  • Material traceability records
  • Certificate of conformity
  • Third-party inspection documents
