FORGED PIPE FITTINGS SUPPLIER IN MALAYSIA

Falak Engineering Sdn Bhd supplies forged pipe fittings for oil and gas, petrochemical, refinery, power generation, chemical processing and industrial piping systems throughout Malaysia.

Our product range includes socket weld and threaded elbows, tees, crosses, couplings, half couplings, unions, caps, plugs, bushings and reducer inserts.

Forged fittings are available in carbon steel, low-temperature carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, duplex and super duplex materials. Based in Kemaman, Terengganu, Falak Engineering supports contractors, fabricators, plant operators and procurement teams with responsive sourcing, technical coordination and delivery arrangements.

FORGED FITTINGS FOR HIGH-PRESSURE PIPING

Forged pipe fittings provide high mechanical strength and dimensional integrity for small-bore piping systems. They are commonly used for high-pressure, high-temperature, low-temperature and demanding process applications.

Typical applications include process piping, steam systems, instrument air, hydraulic systems, hydrocarbon services, utility lines and small-bore branch connections.

SOCKET WELD FITTINGS

Socket weld fittings have a recessed socket into which the pipe is inserted. A fillet weld is applied around the outside of the connection, creating a strong and permanent joint.

These fittings are widely used in small-bore, high-pressure piping systems where mechanical strength, leakage control and pressure containment are important.

Common socket weld fittings include:

  • 45-degree and 90-degree elbows
  • Equal and reducing tees
  • Equal and reducing crosses
  • Full and half couplings
  • Unions and caps
  • Reducer inserts

Installation gaps, welding procedures and inspection requirements should comply with the applicable piping specification and approved welding procedure.

THREADED PIPE FITTINGS

Threaded forged fittings use machined internal or external threads and can be installed without welding. They may be suitable for utility services, maintenance applications and locations where welding is restricted.

Available products include elbows, tees, crosses, couplings, unions, caps, plugs, bushings, hex nipples and reducing inserts.

Threaded fittings should only be used where permitted by the piping class. Their suitability depends on operating pressure, temperature, pipe size, process fluid, vibration and leakage risk.

The required thread standard must be specified because NPT, BSPT and BSPP connections are not automatically interchangeable.

FORGED FITTING STANDARDS AND CLASSES

ASME B16.11 is the principal dimensional standard for forged socket weld and threaded pipe fittings. It covers dimensions, tolerances, socket dimensions, threaded ends, pressure classes and marking requirements.

Related standards may include:

  • ASME B1.20.1 for NPT pipe threads
  • MSS SP-83 for socket weld and threaded unions
  • MSS SP-79 for socket weld reducer inserts
  • MSS SP-95 for swage nipples and bull plugs
  • MSS SP-97 for forged branch outlet fittings

ASME B16.11 forged fittings are primarily used in sizes from NPS ⅛ to NPS 4, depending on the fitting type and class.

Socket weld fittings are commonly available in Classes 3000, 6000 and 9000. Threaded fittings are generally supplied in Classes 2000, 3000 and 6000.

The fitting class is not a direct operating pressure in psi. Actual pressure capability depends on the material, temperature, pipe wall thickness, connection and applicable design code.

FORGED FITTING MATERIALS

Common material grades include:

  • Carbon steel: ASTM A105 and A105N
  • Low-temperature carbon steel: ASTM A350 LF1, LF2, LF3 and other specified grades
  • Alloy steel: ASTM A182 F5, F9, F11, F22 and F91
  • Stainless steel: ASTM A182 F304, F304L, F316 and F316L
  • Duplex and super duplex: ASTM A182 F51, F53, F55, F60 and F61

Material selection should consider the design pressure, temperature, corrosion conditions and service environment.

NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 compliance, impact testing, hardness control, corrosion testing and heat-treatment requirements should be clearly stated during the enquiry stage.

QUALITY DOCUMENTATION

Forged pipe fittings may be supplied with:

  • EN 10204 Type 3.1 or 3.2 certification
  • Chemical and mechanical test results
  • Heat-treatment and impact-test reports
  • Hardness test reports
  • Positive Material Identification
  • Magnetic-particle or liquid-penetrant examination
  • Dimensional and thread inspection reports
  • Corrosion and ferrite test reports
  • Certificate of conformity
  • Third-party inspection documents

Testing and documentation availability depends on the material grade, fitting configuration and agreed purchase requirements.
