BRANCH OUTLET FITTINGS SUPPLIER IN MALAYSIA

Falak Engineering Sdn Bhd supplies branch outlet fittings for oil and gas, petrochemical, refinery, pipeline, power generation and industrial piping systems throughout Malaysia.

Our product range includes Weldolets, Sockolets, Threadolets, Elbolets, Latrolets, Nipolets, Weldoflanges and Nipoflanges. Available outlet connections include buttweld, socket weld, threaded and flanged configurations.

Branch outlets are available in carbon steel, low-temperature carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, duplex and super duplex materials. Based in Kemaman, Terengganu, we support contractors, fabricators, plant operators and procurement teams with responsive sourcing, technical coordination and delivery arrangements.

INTEGRALLY REINFORCED BRANCH CONNECTIONS

Branch outlet fittings connect a smaller branch pipe to a larger run or header pipe. An integrally reinforced outlet incorporates reinforcement within the fitting body, providing a compact alternative to certain branch arrangements involving reducing tees or separate reinforcement pads.

These fittings are commonly used for process piping branches, instrument connections, drains, vents, utilities and high-pressure auxiliary lines.

Selection must consider the run size, branch size, wall thickness, connection type, material, pressure, temperature and applicable piping design code.

TYPES OF BRANCH OUTLET FITTINGS

Weldolet

A Weldolet has a contoured base welded to the run pipe and a bevelled outlet that is butt-welded to the branch pipe. It provides a gradual transition and is commonly used for high-pressure process piping, refinery systems, pipelines and offshore installations.

The branch bore and wall thickness should match the connected branch pipe and piping specification.

Sockolet

A Sockolet combines a contoured base with a socket weld branch connection. It is generally used for small-bore instrument, drain, vent and utility lines where socket weld construction is permitted.

Common socket weld classes include Class 3000, 6000 and 9000, depending on the size, material and fitting design.

Threadolet

A Threadolet has an internally threaded outlet and is used for small-bore branches that do not require welding between the outlet and branch pipe.

The required thread type must be specified. NPT, BSPT and BSPP threads have different dimensions and are not automatically interchangeable.

Elbolet and Latrolet

An Elbolet provides a branch from the curved surface of a pipe elbow. Its base contour must match the elbow size and radius.

A Latrolet creates an angled branch, commonly at 45 degrees to the run pipe. It is suitable where the piping layout, flow direction or available space requires a lateral connection.

Nipolet

A Nipolet combines a reinforced outlet base with an extended nipple-style connection. It is commonly used for drains, vents, instruments and valve connections. The outlet length, wall thickness and end preparation should be stated in the enquiry.

Weldoflange and Nipoflange

Weldoflanges and Nipoflanges provide compact flanged branch connections. Requirements may include pressure class, flange facing, bore, neck length and material grade. These products are generally supplied according to manufacturer standards or approved drawings.

MSS SP-97 STANDARD

MSS SP-97 is the principal product standard for integrally reinforced forged branch outlet fittings with buttweld, socket weld and threaded ends.

It establishes requirements covering dimensions, tolerances, materials, markings, end preparation, reinforcement and pressure-temperature ratings.

Other applicable standards may include:

  • ASME B16.11 for socket weld and threaded connections
  • ASME B16.25 for buttwelding ends
  • ASME B1.20.1 for NPT pipe threads
  • ASME B16.5 for applicable flanged outlets
  • ASME B31.3 for process piping design

The branch connection must still comply with the reinforcement, fabrication, examination and testing requirements of the applicable piping code.

AVAILABLE SIZES AND MATERIALS

Run pipe sizes may range from ¾ inch to 48 inches, while branch sizes may range from ½ inch to 24 inches, depending on the outlet type and manufacturer.

Common branch schedules include Schedule 40, 80 and 160, as well as STD, XS and XXS.

Available material grades include:

  • Carbon steel: ASTM A105 and A105N
  • Low-temperature carbon steel: ASTM A350 LF2 and other specified grades
  • Alloy steel: ASTM A182 F5, F9, F11, F22 and F91
  • Stainless steel: ASTM A182 F304, F304L, F316 and F316L
  • Duplex and super duplex: ASTM A182 F51, F53, F55, F60 and F61
  • High-yield steel: ASTM A694 F42 to F70

Material selection should consider compatibility with the run pipe, branch pipe, operating conditions and project specification.

ORDERING BRANCH OUTLETS

Branch outlets are normally described by run size × branch size. For example, an 8-inch × 2-inch Weldolet connects a 2-inch branch to an 8-inch run pipe.

Two outlets with the same branch size may have different base contours because they are designed for different run diameters. The run size, run wall thickness, branch size and branch schedule should therefore be stated clearly.

QUALITY DOCUMENTATION

Available documentation may include:

  • EN 10204 Type 3.1 or 3.2 certification
  • Chemical and mechanical test results
  • Heat-treatment and impact-test reports
  • Positive Material Identification
  • NDT and dimensional inspection reports
  • Base-contour and thread inspection
  • Corrosion and ferrite testing
  • Certificate of conformity
  • Third-party inspection documents

Testing and documentation requirements should be confirmed during the enquiry stage.
